Bauple is a lovely country town just off the Bruce Highway between Gympie and Tiaro (south of Maryborough). Google map Bauple.
Bauple is the original home of the Macadamia Nut aka the Queensland Nut aka the Bopple Nut. (Now you know how to pronounce "Bauple").
Unfortunately, Macadamia House , has closed to the public but the wonderful Macadamia Nut and it's products can be bought on line from them in many forms. There is now a childrens book about the Nutmobile called "All Aboard The Nutmobile" which can also be purchased from Macadamia House.
Bauple also has a Men's Shed that is open for visitors on Tuesdays and Saturdays. It started as a Men's Shed in 2009 but women of the district also wanted to learn to weld and work with wood so it has become the Bauple Community Shed. http://www.bauple.com/Mens%20shed.htm
Another boast of Bauple is the Fraser Coast Artspace. A gallery of locally produced art emphasising the many of the wonderful features of the region. The art can be simply viewed, or viewed with a view to purchasing. The building itself can't be missed - it's the only purple building in Bauple Drive not far from Mac Cafe.
The Federation Museum has a great display of memorabilia some dating back over 100 years visit http://www.bauple.com/museum.htm
In years gone by, Bauple was the centre of a local sugar industry and was the home of the Bauple Sugar Mill which operated from 1896 to 1951. Through this connection to the industry, the Museum is restoring an old 1907 Fowler steam locomotive that once hauled sugar cane to a mill further north at Isis. Some remains of the old mill are still visible beside Mill St.
